Domestic waste water from Lilbosch Abbey in Echt (NL) purified with horizontal filter and flow field
Lilbosch Abbey is still run by Cistercian monks who provide for their own maintenance through ecological arable farming. This abbey in rural area previously discharged into the Pepinusbeek. Rietland built a two-stage treatment for the domestic waste water of the Trappists (30IE): horizontal filter (180m²), flow field (240m²) and three ponds totaling 90m². This design has been oversized because it was not possible to disconnect all the rainwater from the abbey.
