Over the last two decades, new reed beds or helophyte filters have been introduced in the Netherlands and Belgium. Who can still find their way between the horizontally and vertically flow filters, whether aerated or not? How much surface area do you need for this and how much maintenance does such a system require? Which processes take place in a helophyte filter or reed field and can a compact, aerated system work?

These and other questions will be answered in this webinar answered by professor Diederik Rousseau from the University of Ghent. His 45-minute presentation will be followed by a panel discussion featuring Dion van Oirschot Rietland participates. This webinar was passed on STOWA organized on March 1, 2024.
