The first result of the collaboration between Kilian Water (DK) and Rietland: an aerated reed bed in Kalundborg.
Commissioned by 'Kalundborg Forsyning', Denmark, Kilian Water constructed a helophyte filter with a capacity of 100 PE of wastewater plus rainwater of 2 ha.
Due to the strongly varying load and because very strict ammonium requirements had to be met continuously, it was decided to expand the percolation reed beds with an aerated drainage layer.
Rietland designed the aeration and supplied the materials for this. The first results are very good!
