The construction sector faces major water-related challenges, and therefore the demand for smart tools to make sustainable water choices in new construction and renovations is increasing. The COOCK Waterwijzer project examines how the combination of mandatory rainwater systems, greywater systems, and water-saving appliances can lead to optimal water efficiency. VLARIO and Vito Kennispunt Water (Water Knowledge Centre) compiled sixteen reference projects, including: Velodrome in ZolderIn this project, Rietland implemented a demand-driven system that purifies graywater from showers and uses it for toilet flushing. Rainwater is also stored and reused if the graywater volume is insufficient. This reduces drinking water consumption and provides the sandy soil in Limburg with rainwater to replenish the groundwater table. More information can be found in the Aquarama article and video.
Rietland is also involved in the new calculation module for grey water systems that Buildwise will implement in the calculation module for rainwater wells in the Green-blue levelThis calculation tool will quickly provide insight into the added value of a greywater system. The tool visualizes the impact of water consumption, infiltration, and discharge, and also provides the user with a price estimate.
