Within the MULTISOURCE project we have been conducting intensive monitoring for two years, and on May 27 to organize EmBuild Flanders and Rietland a webinar in which we share the latest scientific insights. We present the results of three pilot setups in Belgium, France and Germany and investigate how nature-based solutions, such as reed beds/helophyte filters and green roofs, contribute to effective water purification.

Special attention is paid to the removal of pathogens and drug residuesIn addition, together with EmBuild Flanders we are analyzing how the lessons learned from this project can be applied within the Waterwijzer projectso that this knowledge can be used more widely for future-oriented and sustainable water management.

Here's a sneak peek of what you can discover:

1) Rhizosph'air Aerated French Wetland: An innovative and compact technology that treats sludge and wastewater – even during extreme rainfall! The system requires only 1m² of space per inhabitant and a capital cost of €200/m². This is a revolution in urban wastewater management. Check out the results from the pilot in Lyon.

2️) Phytoparking in Ypres: A decentralized wastewater treatment plant that also serves as a green parking lot. The system reuses 30-60% of the treated wastewater on site for toilet flushing. Efficiency and sustainability come together!

3️) Green roofs in Germany: Research into which green roofs now better support or promote biodiversity, rainwater retention and cooling of buildings. In addition, IBIC tells inspiring stories about feasible realizations in Belgium and indicates the advantages of retention roofs, buzzing roofs and bankside plant roofs. View the fact sheet and discover the lessons and co-benefits of green roofs.

This webinar will also demonstrate the additional benefits and multi-functionality of these solutions, opening the door to broader applications and replication in cities.

subscribe for the webinar on May 27 from 14 to 16 o'clock and discover the latest scientific insights.
